    Microblading Aftercare for Your Eyebrows

Once you make the decision to have a microblading treatment completed on your eyebrows, you are sure to be excited about the look you’ll achieve when all is said and done. And, it will be easy to think that as soon as you are done with your appointment, the process is finished! You are close, but that’s not quite the case. There is some aftercare that is needed when you are done with the treatment itself, and we’ll outline the basics for it in this article.

First Things First – Follow Directions

No matter what else you read or hear, the best thing you can do with regard to aftercare when your microblading eyebrows are complete is to follow the directions of your technician. He or she is the one who actually performed the work and saw how your skin responded to the treatment. Whatever directions you are provided by your technician should be followed carefully. If you stick with those directions and follow through until enough time has passed, you should get excellent results in the end.

    Stay Dry

One of the first rules of thumb to obey during this process is to keep your face dry during the recovery period. This will be pretty easy for the most part – except for when you take a shower. It would be easy enough to forget and stick your face right into the warm shower water like you usually do on any other day. Make a mental note of the need to keep your face dry as your skin recovers, and maybe even put a note outside your shower just to make sure you don’t forget.

If you need to go out in the rain during this recovery period, do what you can to keep your face as dry as possible. A few drops of rain probably aren’t going to cause too much trouble, but you don’t want to get soaked in a downpour. If possible, bring an umbrella with you when rain is in the forecast to avoid getting stuck in heavy rain with no way to hide. The period of time that you need to avoid getting your face wet should be between one and two weeks in most cases.

    Skip the Makeup

Another important step is to avoid using makeup for a week or two after your procedure. Remember, the microblading eyebrows treatment you underwent was a series of small cuts in your face – and you don’t want to be placing makeup down into those cuts. Give your face time to properly heal and you will be able to get back to using makeup soon enough. If you really don’t want to go out very much without your makeup, consider scheduling your treatment for a time when you can be away from work for a bit and just lay low.

    Keep the Sweat Down

This point goes right along with the earlier point about keeping your face as dry as possible. If you are sweating in any significant manner, your face won’t be dry, obviously. So, try to avoid heavy exercise that would lead to a strong sweat breaking out all across your brow. Even if you are a regular exerciser who loves to stay as active as possible, it’s best to take it easy for a week or so until the treated area can recover and get back to normal.

Again, on this point, planning ahead is the key. Pick a time for your microblading treatment when you will be able to stay away from hard exercise for a short period of time. For instance, if you are a runner and have registered for an upcoming race, don’t plan your microblading eyebrows appointment for right before the race – that would be a problem. Instead, maybe wait until after your race, when you might be taking it easy for a while to recover anyway.

    Hands Off!

At this point, we get to what will likely be the most difficult part of the aftercare process. Keeping your hands off the treated area! As you know from having cuts, scrapes, or other injuries during your life, it’s hard to leave those areas alone and just let them heal. There might be little itchy feelings that come up along the way, and you’ll be tempted to scratch and rub until the feeling goes away. Don’t do it – you need to leave the eyebrow area alone until it has fully healed. Most likely, you’ll have the most trouble with this point in the immediate aftermath of your treatment. In other words, the first day or two will probably be the worst, and it should get better and better from there as you get farther from the actual treatment and your eyebrows continue to heal. This part of the recovery might be an exercise in self-control and patience, but it will pay off when all is said and done, and you can be proud of your new eyebrow look.
